I
have written an original christening ceremony for babies and
children only. Based on Christian tenets and stressing the role of the
family and friends in a child's life, the ceremony will last about 15
minutes. I christen the child with rainwater which I collect and save.
At the conclusion of the ceremony I ask each person to hold the child
for photographs and make a wish for its future. I only go in a 50 mile
radius of the City of St. Louis except by special arrangement.
My ceremony, dedicating the baby to all that is
good, was most recently revised for the baptism of my 16th grandchild.
The brunch and ceremony will be on the weekend closest to when she is
100 days old. I learned of the 100 day ceremony, a charming Korean tradition,
from a friend, Debra Jong Lee Berger.
